The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) says it has rejected 328 expatriate job applications from oil firms since January.
Mr Olubisi Okunola, Manager of Strategy at NCDMB, announced this at the capacity building workshop for media stakeholders in Lagos.
Okunola said the board had completed 83 per cent of the 96 initiatives under its strategic roadmap target.
He said the board received more applications for expatriates quota in the outgoing year than in 2022
According to him, the board rejected more requests than it did in 2022.
Reeling out latest Nigerian content data, the manager said the board received 1,484 applications in 2023.
“We granted 1,156 requests and rejected 328 applications.

In 2022 data, we received 1,125 applications and granted 943 requests, leaving 172 applications denied,” he said.
Also speaking, Mr Esueme Kikile, NCDMB’s Corporate Communication Manager, said the board recorded 83 per cent achievement on its 10-year roadmap.
Kikile recalled that former President Olusegun Obasanjo laid the foundation of NCDMB in 2001. He added that Obasanjo the inaugurated the Presidential Committee on Local Content in the oil and gas industry.
“Obasanjo mandated the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) to drive the policy and set certain targets.
“In its efforts to implement the policy, the corporation set up the Nigerian Content Division within its system. It also issued some Nigerian content directives to industry stakeholders,” he said.
