The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved N449.9 million to develop master plans for 17 airports in the country.
Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant to President (Media and Publicity), announced this to newsmen after FEC meeting in Abuja.
Vice President Yemi Osinbajo presided over the Council meeting in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The affected airports are the international airport in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt and Kano.
Others those in Owerri, Benin, Enugu, Maiduguri, Yola, Calabar, Ilorin, Sokoto, Ibadan, Jos, Akure, Ondo and Kastina.
FEC also approved post-contract consultancy, amounting to N3.4 billion, for constructing second runway and associated facilities at Abuja airport.
According to him, FEC also approved contracts for the Ogoni remediation project in Rivers State.
“FEC approve two contracts for Ogoniland in Rivers State, Ogoni being a flagship of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration.
“Counsil also awarded contract for water projects under the second phase, amounting to N22.8 billion,” Shehu stated.
Council also approve award of contract for remediation of newly identified hydrocarbon impacted sites along Ogoniland shoreline for N107 billion.
He said FCT also got some approvals, including a contract for full-scope development of Shehu Shagari Way, costing N91 billion.

“Another one is for rehabilitation of the Rubochi township roads and rehabilitation of Rubochi-Gwagwalada in the FCT, for N5.7 billion.
“Council also approved contract for construction of 3.2-kilometre road to Kwali Bridge in Kwali Area Council for N1.6 billion.
“Another FCT contract is for the revised estimated cost of the contract for the provision of engineering infrastructure in Guzape District lot 11 in the FCT and the contract sum is N28 billion.
“The fifth approval for FCT is for the revised estimated total cost/augmentation of the contract for the provision of access roads to Kabusa Garden Estate, Dako District, in FCT.
“And this is for N6.6 billion.”
Shehu said the Ministry of Works received approvals for rehabilitation of several roads across the country.
He noted that Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning also got approval for construction of the FIRS multi-storey office complex in Ikeja in Lagos State for N10.3 billion.
“Finance Ministry also had approval for the construction of Zone B Headquarters of the Nigeria Customs in Mando and Afaka in Kaduna State.”
He also said that the Ministry of Interior also got approval for the establishment of the National Institute for Domestic Security in Irogbo-Ilesha, Osun State.
“This is for research and capacity development of paramilitary agencies and other relevant stakeholders within and outside Nigeria.
“This is to guarantee a peaceful and secure nation; with a budgetary provision of N285 million in 2022 budget and N360 million in 2023 budget,” Shehu said.
