According to Sununu, the event is significant in celebrating a decade of unwavering support for education in Nigeria.

”This event is dedicated to our most essential professionals, our teachers who facilitate the acquisition of knowledge, values, hope and indeed the transformative power of education.

”As we gather here, we recognise that no society can progress without a robust education system.

”Also, no educational reform can succeed without dedicated teachers who implement the curriculum, mentor learners, and guide development.

”Nigeria’s education system is committed to preparing our children for responsible citizenship and national development.

”This is achievable, only through the efforts of qualified, innovative, and motivated teachers like those we are honouring here today,” the minister said.

He highlighted the national efforts to restore the dignity of the teaching profession.

One of such efforts is the new National Teaching Policy. The Federal Ministry of Education developed it with key stakeholders.
