TRCN: 4000 teachers fail qualifying exam – TRCN

The Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN) has released the results of the November 2023 diet of its Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE), with 3,963 teachers failing.

TRCN Registrar, Prof. Josiah Ajiboye, announced this at an interactive session with newsmen, on Monday, in Abuja.

“A total of 3,963 teachers who sat for the Nov. 2023 diet of the Professional Qualifying Examination (PQE) failed the examinations,” Ajiboye said.

According to him, the examination aims to test the professional knowledge of teachers in the educational sector.

“A total of 15,753 teachers sat for the examination at 38 centres across the country.

“Out of this, we have 10,636 that passed, which is about 72.9 per cent. However, 3,963 teachers failed the examination,” the Registrar said.

Ajiboye also said that some candidates registered for the examination but did not turn up for it.

“Some others had their results cancelled due to examination malpractices.

The Registrar assured that the council would continue to improve the teaching profession in Nigeria.
