The Democratic Front (TDF) commended the Nigerian military for heating the dens of terrorists, leading to the surrender of 129,417 in the last six months.
TheNewsZenith quotes TDF as describing this fit as evidence of a renewed push by the government to tackle security challenges.
TDF’s Chairman, Danjuma Muhammad and Secretary, Wale Adedayo, gave the commendation in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja.
It noted that the Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Chris Musa, announced the success story at a security conference recently in Dubai, UAE.
“This development underscores the positive impact of the non-kinetic approach that President Tinubu has introduced into the war against terrorism.
“It is equally important to appreciate additional revelations from the Dubai conference.
“This is that the approach to the nation’s security challenges has also resulted in the successful prosecution of 505 terrorists.
“The terrorists faced prosecution in court under the Anti-Terrorism Act of 2022.

“We have consistently emphasized the significance of exploring several non-kinetic avenues,” TheNewsZenith quotes the statement as read in part.
Such avenues and initiatives include the National Almajiri Commission, Pulaku Initiative, Regional Development Commissions and the Ministry of Livestock Development.
“All these will ensure the socio-economic development of ungoverned spaces, which have been the breeding ground for insurgency and banditry.”
TDF posited that President Bola Tinubu’s special attention to the military has opened a new vista for the recalibration of military tactics, techniques and other regimental procedures.
These allow for the complementary use of non-kinetic methods in eliminating insecurity in the country.
“We urge the President to continually motivate security agencies through his pro-people policies.
“This is because the deployment of non-kinetic initiatives has triggered the mass surrender of terrorists. It has also led to the steady deradicalization of hardliners,” it added.
