IGP visits Kwara, urges people-oriented policing

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun, re-emphasised the importance of professionalism and people-friendly policing as he interacted with officers in Kwara Command on policing activities.

ACP Olumiywas Adejobi, the Force PRO, said in a statement, e-mailed to TheNewsZenith, that Egbetokun visited Kwara Command, on Friday.

According to the statement, touring the state “aims at strengthening the relationship between the police force and the local community”.

While in the state, IGP visited the Emir of Ilorin, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, and discussed matters of mutual interest.

The discussions focused on collaborative efforts to enhance the safety and security of the people in Kwara State.

The IGP expressed gratitude for the Emir’s continuous support. He emphasized the crucial role traditional leaders play in maintaining peace and order within their domains.

At the State Police Command, Egbetokun addressed officers and men of the Force, underscoring the importance of professionalism.

He changed them to adhere to ethical standards and stressed the need for a people-friendly, law-abiding approach to policing.

The IGP commended the officers for their dedication to duty and reminded them of the importance of earning the trust and confidence of the community they serve.

In his lecture, Egbetokun highlighted the significance of community policing. He encouraged officers to actively engage with the public and foster a collaborative effort in the fight against crime.

He also stressed the importance of respect for human rights and the rule of law in discharging their duties.

Similarly, the Police Chief visited Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq of Kwara State and discussed collaborative initiatives to enhance the safety and security of Kwarans.

The IGP commended the governor for his continuous support of the Police Force in maintaining law and order.

He thanked the people of Kwara for their warm reception and cooperation with the Force in discharging its policing duties.

Egbetokun pledged that the Force would work in synergy with local communities and the government to ensure the safety and security of all citizens.
