Kwara State Government has advised its local government councils to put their newly acquired tractors at the disposal of farmers in their respective domains.

TheNewsZenith reports that Abubakar Bata, the Commissioner for Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Community Development announced this at the weekend, in Ilorin.

Bata spoke while unveiling the tractors that this was part of the state government’s efforts to boost food security in the state.

According to him, each of the tractors came with implements such as a plough, ridger, harrow and tractor traller.

The commissioner expressed excitement that the local councils bought the tractors.

“This is a reflection of significant improvements in their allocation.

“The new tractors will boost farming activities at the grassroots.

“The decision of

the local councils to buy these tractors and the many accessories is a thoughtful one.

“It corroborates the position of Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq that no one takes local council funds,” Bata said.

He urged the council chairmen to make these new tractors available for massive agricultural activities in their areas.
