Awka, Feb. 7, ’25 (TNZ) A member of the Anambra State House of Assembly, Justice Azuka, kidnapped on Christmas Eve has been found dead, according to a family source.

TheNewsZenith reports that gunmen kidnapped late Azuka at Onitsha while he was travelling home for the Christmas holiday last year.

There have been agitations for his release both by individuals, the state government and his fellow lawmakers, all to no avail.

Spokesman of the Police in the state, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, in a press release announcing Azuka’s death on Thursday, said a police team found his lifeless body around the second Niger bridge.

“In the early hours of today (Feb. 6) at the second niger bridge, the Joint Security team, on a mission to rescue abducted Azuka.

“The team comprised of the Police and Awka vigilant Group (AVG) Operatives.

“Regrettably, the team found his lifeless body at the scene,” TheNewsZenith quotes Ikenga as stating.

He said details of the killing were not available yet. He, however, assures that as soon as he gets credible information, he will make it available to journalists.

The PPRO added that the joint security team have taken over the scene and an operation is ongoing for the possible arrest of the suspects involved. (TNZ)
