Kaduna, Jan. 21, ’25 (TNZ) The Police Command in Kaduna State has arrested some suspected armed robbers and kidnappers as well as recovered some rustled cows in its efforts to combat crime.
TheNewsZenith reports that DSP Mansir Hassan, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, announced the arrest in a statement on Tuesday in Kaduna.
Hassan gave details of the operations that led to the arrests and recovery.
According to him, operatives of the Command apprehended four suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate in Samaru-Zaria following a tip-off.
“The suspects (names withheld) confessed to their involvement in multiple robbery operations,” TheNewsZenith quoted Hassan as stating.
He said that on Jan. 19 at about 6.30 a.m., a team of detectives led by the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Samaru-Zaria launched an operation in the Zango and Hayin Jarumai areas.
“This was a sequel to a credible intelligence report from the neighbourhood.
“Operatives promptly arrested the suspects. On searching one of the suspect’s residences, they recovered a dagger which the suspects used in committing the crime,” the PPRO said.
The command has intensified efforts to apprehend other gang members, including their leaders, who are still at large.

In another operation, Police operatives arrested two suspected kidnappers, (names withheld) in Jere.
According to the Command’s spokesman, operatives apprehended the suspects, natives of Adamawa State, with three mobile phones and ₦158,600.
“The suspects confessed to being members of a notorious bandit gang terrorising the Abuja-Kaduna axis,” TheNewsZenith quotes Hassan as stating.
He said efforts were ongoing to track down other members of the gang.
Police also responded to a distress call about an armed invasion in Dandako Village, where 50 cows were rustled.
Hassan narrated how the operatives engaged the suspects in a gun battle, forcing them to abandon the stolen cattle and flee.
“The cows have been recovered, and efforts are being intensified to track down the fleeing suspects,” he noted. (TNZ)
