Immediate past governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, on Monday, told the Senate screening him for a ministerial role, said his passion for the country propelled him to accept the nomination.
The process commenced on Monday after David Umahi, deputy majority leader, moved a motion to that effect.
The Senate wasted no time to clear him after he read out his Resumes and achievements in office as two-term governor of Rivers.
“I accepted the offer to serve as a ministerial nomination because of my passion to serve Nigeria,” he said.
During the screening, the Deputy Senate President, Jibrin Barau, commented Wike for “wonderful jobs” he did in Rivers State.
“The first time I got to River State, I was shocked because of the impact of the work that you did in the state.
“In fact, I thought I was abroad and not in Nigeria. Will you be able to replicate the same work if Senate confirm you as a Minister?” Barau asked.
Also, the lawmakers representing River State represented by Sen. Barinada Mpigi ( PDP, Rivers Southeast) said Wike was the best governor to have ruled in the state.
“His Excellency former Gov. Nyesom Wike is our best in Rivers State. He is our leader and role model.
“Distinguished senators, we employ that you should let him just take a bow and go. His resume is insufficient to enumerate the works that he has done,” Mpigi said.
The Senate President, GodsWill Akpabio, thereafter, told Wike to take a bow and leave.
Also cleared is Abubakar Momoh, a civil engineer and two-time member of the house of representatives from Edo state.

As a former federal lawmaker, the Senate also asked Momoh, to “take a bow and go”.
Senate President told the ministerial nominees cleared work in collaboration with the National Assembly when they get to their respective offices.
“We want to appeal to you not to go there and close your door. You have to collaborate with us,” Akpabio told Momoh after asking him to “take a bow and go”.
He pleaded with Wike also to maintain open door policy and asked him to take a bow and leave.
Recall that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, last week sent a list of 28 ministerial nominees to the Senate for confirmation.
The Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila delivered the list to the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly last week.
TheNewsZenith reports that 16 out of the 28 nominees are scheduled for screening on Monday.
The nominees are Abubakar Momoh, Yusuf Tuggar, Ahmad Dangiwa, Hannatu Musawa, Uche Nnaji, Betta Edu, Doris Uzoka, David Umahi, Nyesom Wike, Muhammad Badaru and Nasir el-Rufai.
Others included Ekerikpe Ekpo, Nkiru Onyejiocha, Olubunmi Ojo, Stella Okotette, Uju Ohaneye
Bello Goronyo, Dele Alake, Lateef Fagbemi, Mohammad Idris and Olawale Edun.
Also nominated are Waheed Adebanwo, Imaan Ibrahim, Ali Pate, Joseph Usev, Abubakar Kyari,
John Enoh and Abubakar Danladi.
