The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) recently made some arrests, targeting individuals who specialise in distributing illegal drugs at nightclubs and lounges in Lagos State.
The manager of a Lekki-based artist and his Ikoyi business accomplice, who specialise in distributing illicit drugs at night clubs and lounges in Lekki and Island axis of Lagos were among those arrested.
The agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, announced this in a statement on Sunday.
According to him, NDLEA made the arrests following an intelligence report on a shipment of Colorado.
Colorado is a synthetic and potent strain of cannabis, being imported from Los Angeles, United States.
Babafemi said the agency arrested one of the suspects, Oseni Babatunde (aka Papalampa), at his Lekki residence when the shipment arrived.
During a preliminary interview, Babatunde allegedly confessed to starting the illicit trade three years ago.
He allegedly admitted selling drugs to patrons of clubs and lounges including Quilox, Silver Fox, DNA and Hot Box.
The NDLEA also intercepted ten parcels of Colorado weighing 2.50kg, allegedly linked to Babatunde.
Its operatives intercepted the parcels at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Ikeja.

During a follow-up search of his residence, operatives reportedly recovered additional quantities of the substance.
They also confiscated a digital weighing scale and other paraphernalia.
NDLEA also linked another suspect, Nnadi Kingsley Ikenna, to the shipment.
“But he was away in South Africa at the time of the search,” the agency’s spokesman said.
He added that operatives eventually arrested him upon returning to the country on a Kenya Airlines flight.
In another operation, NDLEA said it intercepted a cargo containing MDMA (Ecstasy) and Rohypnol concealed in a bag of foodstuff.
“The cargo was heading to Nairobi in Kenya. An agent, who presented it for export, was arrested.”
NDLEA also caught another suspect, Igboma Ifeanyi, allegedly attempting to export quantities of Loud, a variant of cannabis, Tramadol and Rohypnol.
“The vigilant operatives intercepted him while he was preparing to board an Ethiopian Airline flight to Muscat, Oman, at the Lagos airport,” Babafemi stated.
