OSGS earmarks N2b for rural infrastructures

Osun State Government has earmarked more than N2 billion for the provision of rural infrastructures such as water, health facilities and roads amongst others under its Community and Social Development Agency (CSDA).

Mrs Fumi Abokede, the General Manager of CSDA announced this during an interaction with newsmen in Osogbo, the state capital.

Abokede also said that about 186,000 people, including vulnerable persons, have benefited from various life-changing projects initiated by the agency.

According to her, the beneficiaries comprised 94,439 females and 91,286 males, cutting across the local government and LCDAs in the state.

Also, the agency executed 121 projects on water and sanitation, health, education and lock-up shops among others.

“We have completed 176 micro-projects while about 92 other ongoing are at an advanced stage of completion,” she said.

The CSDA boss hinted that the agency carefully selected the projects with the active involvement of the benefitting communities.

“The communities themselves brought proposals, having identified their areas of needs, to our office.

According to her, the vision and mission of the agency are to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people, especially those who have health challenges.

“Our mandate is to provide basic infrastructure and amenities such as water roads, health care services and other necessary facilities to communities,” the GM said.

She explained that more communities are demanding roads and transformers for their communities.

“The transformation agenda of Mr governor has paid off in providing the basic needs for the people.

“The Agency has been able to assist the people who are vulnerable in many communities.”

She expressed appreciation to newsmen for their efforts in propagating the developmental agenda of the state government.
