Oyo SDP governorship candidate steps down for Makinde

Mr Michael Lana, the governorship candidate of Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Oyo State has stepped down for Gov. Seyi Makinde.

Makinde is the candidate of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Lana made the announcement at a news conference on Tuesday in Ibadan.

He said he had informed the public that SDP candidates, especially those vying for House of Assembly seats, would determine whatever step he would take.

“After several consultations, we resolved that the best thing for Oyo State right now is to align ourselves with a really progressive candidate,” he said.

Lana said that he had consulted widely with his supporters – trade unions, traditional rulers, market associations and religious bodies.

“After discussing with him, we decided that Makinde needs help from all capable hands to achieve his dreams for our state.

“We have, therefore, resolved to inform all our teeming supporters to vote massively for him on Saturday,” he said.
