The Police in Cross River State have arrested two members of a four-man kidnap gang, the State Command’s spokesperson said.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), SP Irene Ugbo confirmed the arrest, adding that the gang abducted the wife of a popular vehicle dealer in Calabar.

Ugbo said the gang released their victim after collecting ransom money.

“The suspects have made confessional statements to the Police. We will prosecute them once we conclude the investigation.

“Luck ran against them as the Police tracked the owner of the bank account, into which they received the ransom money.

Ugbo added that operatives recovered locally-made pistols, ammunition, phones and other valuable items from the duo.

She warned members of the public against sharing their bank details with others. Anyone could use such details to defraud or carry out illicit dealings.
