The Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC) has commended Gov. Dapo Abiodun for providing funds to augment the shortfall in Basic Travelling Allowance for the state pilgrims to perform the 2024 Hajj.

In a statement, the Council described the governor’s action as a gesture that would enhance unhindered Hajj conduct.

It would also ensure the smooth performance of the rites by the pilgrims.

OMC noted that the assistance would equally ease the pilgrims’ affairs while in the Holy Land.

It described Abiodun as a faith-minded personality. This is as he exhibited the Islamic principles of tolerance, caring, friendly and supportive of good things.

The Muslim body implored him to sustain his kindheartedness to the people.

This, it said, would enhance the realisation of his “Building Our Future Together”‘ Agenda of his government.

It enjoins the pilgrims to reciprocate the gesture by adhering to the Saudi Arabian laws.

“They should avoid any act that can tarnish their name or family or damage the country’s image.”

Recall that the volatility of the foreign exchange rate has weakened the Naira currency.

This caused a shortfall in the exchange rate used by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in calculating the Hajj fare and (BTA) used by the apex bank (CBN).
