Boxing Day: Tap into innate talents, LG boss tells youths

The Chairman of Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, Ms Surah Animashahun, has appealed to youths in the area to tap into their innate talents to become self-reliant.

TheNewsZenith reports that Animashahun made the appeal while speaking with newsmen during the Boxing Day celebration on Thursday in Epe.

She said young people should explore their creative abilities to carve a path toward sustainable livelihoods.

“The creative industry is huge, wide and enormous.

“Therefore, youths should identify their talent and tap into it for self-sustainability,” TheNewsZenith quotes Animashahum as saying.

According to her, there are abundant opportunities in the creative and sports industries that youths could explore to become self-reliant.

“Activities such as fashion, music, acting and boxing have transformed many individuals into global icons.

“They are contributing significantly to the economy,” she said.

Animashahun urged parents, guardians and schools to play pivotal roles in helping children discover their skills early in life.

“Our schools and parents should support the creative potential of the younger generation.

“This will help them secure a brighter future and contribute to national development,” she said.

The Council chairman also spoke on the need for government and private sector collaboration to provide platforms for the discovery of young talents.

She called for the establishment of skills acquisition centres, mentorship programmes and talent shows to promote innovation and creativity.
