Arthur Jarvis University (AJU), a private institution in Akpabuyo Local Government Area of Cross River, says it has initiated random testing of students to curb the menace of Drug abuse among the students.
The Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Ani Nkang, announced the measure during the seventh matriculation of the university in Akpabuyo, near Calabar on Friday.
Nkang expressed worry over the menace of drug abuse among the youths.
He said any prescription drug in use should be properly registered at the University hospital.
The VC warned the 239 matriculating students against all social vices, warning that though sanctions await offenders.

“Resist any undue influence by friends as the effects may be devastating.
“Please note that this university has zero tolerance for examination misconduct, drugs, secret cult activities, possession of dangerous weapons, rape, fighting, stealing and impersonation.
“These activities attract visible and proportionate disciplinary action including suspension or expulsion,” he said.
He warned that the university authorities would dismiss and hand perpetrators of criminal offences over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.
