A former House of Representatives and PDP stalwart member, Mr Oghene Egoh, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos.

TheNewsZenith reports that Egoh, who represented Amuwo-Odofin Federal Constituency (Lagos State) for two terms, defected with thousands of his supporters.

Pastor Cornelius Ojelabi, Lagos State APC Chairman, received Egoh and his supporters in Amuwo-Odofin at a colourful reception.

Speaking at the ceremony Egoh said the leadership crisis in PDP and the good performance of President Bola Tinubu made him join the ruling party.

He also said several reforms and iconic projects executed by Tinubu and the outstanding performance of Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos inspired him and his followers.

“The first motivation for joining the APC is the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of Mr President.

“I have examined his policies and realised they can turn this nation around.

“The President came in  when the nation was at a financial crossroads.

“We are moving into APC en masse to support the President and the state government in their good works, and not to contest for any position.

The former lawmaker said the PDP was in disarray and that its problems were numerous and intractable.

Egoh also urged Nigerians to be patient with the president as things improve soon.

Receiving them, Ojelabi commended Egoh and his followers for joining the APC family.

He assured that APC would accommodate them and give them equal treatment with existing members.

“We will improve the lives of people in Amowo-Odofin on infrastructure and more remuneration for better lives.

“By 2027, the people of Amowo-Odofin will present their candidate for the governorship election.

“I am directing the two local governments in Amumo-Odofin to register all the new members and to invite them to all APC activities all over the country,” the chairman said.

Also speaking, a party chieftain and former Minister of Defence (State), Sen. Musiliu Obanikoro, commended Egoh.

Obanikoro assured him and his teeming supporters of unlimited support from APC under the leadership of Ojelabi.
