Gov. Inuwa Yahaya has taken of Gombe State investment drive mission to the Office Chérifien des Phosphates (OCP) in Morocco for a sustainable agricultural collaboration.
TheNewsZenith reports that OCP is the world’s largest producer of phosphate-based fertilizers and a global leader in sustainable agriculture.
This is part of the government’s strategic push to partner with global agricultural leaders to boost the agricultural production system.
Gombe government also plans to promote the processing industry and encourage inclusive growth, and economic prosperity.
OCP, established in 1920, is the world’s largest exporter of raw phosphate. It has extensive operations that span mining, processing, and fertiliser production.
It offers customised fertilisers that are tailored to meet specific agricultural needs.
The state government is keen on exploring various partnership options with OCP.
These include fertiliser, renewable energy development, technical support and investment opportunities for farmers and businessmen.
During the visit, Yahaya emphasized the importance of this partnership for the agrarian state where over 80 per cent of the population are farmers.

The governor and his team took a comprehensive tour of the mining towns of Khouribga and Benguerir.
The towns are home to Morocco’s largest phosphate reserves.
HSE Manager at OCP SA, Daouah Sami led the delegation to witness first-hand, the operations of the world’s largest phosphate fertilizer factory at Jorf Lasfar.
The factory produces an impressive 16 million tonnes annually.
Sami explained that the company is heavily investing in reliable and competitive renewable energy as a key pillar of its strategy to produce sustainable green fertilisers.
These include the development of solar energy and the mobilisation of unconventional water sources.
Both the company and the Gomber State government will formalise the partnership arrangement soon to pave the way for impactful development projects.
