Abuja, Dec. 12, ’25 (TNZ) ‎The Tinubu Media Volunteers (TMV) has applauded the President Bola Tinubu administration for launching the Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG) initiative.

TheNewsZenith reports that the applause is contained in a statement signed by TMV’s chairman, Chukwudi Enekwechi, and Secretary Segun Ogedengbe.

The group noted that it was an initiative designed to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the practical application of acquired knowledge.

‎”We applaud the vision of the Minister of Education, Dr Olatunji Alausa, for initiating the S-VCG.

“The innovations that will emerge from the programme, will eventually ‘evolve into patents and licensable technologies with potential for significant local and global impact.’

‎”We also align with the view of the former minister of power, Prof. Barth Nnaji posited that the new Student Venture Capital Grant (S-VCG) is a milestone with historical significance,” TheNewsZenith quoted from the statement.

‎Nnaji had, during the launch of the grant, linked innovation and commercialisation of research with the initiative.

Furthermore, TMV recalled that the federal government had on Nov. 17, launched an application portal for the S-VCG as part of the ‘Renewed Hope Agenda’ of the President Tinubu administration.

‎”The programme will positively impact the Nigerian tertiary education sector.

“The sector will transition from churning out theoretical graduates to ones with technical know-how.

“Utimately, the graduates will become manufacturers and industrialists like Prof. Nnaji who had successfully translated his classroom knowledge as a professor of robotics engineering in the United States to an industrialist of note.

‎”We, therefore, commend the federal government for providing N50m in equity-free grants to beneficiaries.

“This has the potential to encourage the setting up of manufacturing entities. Such entities will be capable of elevating Nigeria to a manufacturing hub over a period of time,” TheNewsZenith further quotes the statement. (TNZ)
