KNSG approves N40b for projects execution

Kano State Government has approved the release of more than N40.35 billion for the execution of various projects for the benefit of the people.

Baba Halilu Dantiye, the state Information Commissioner, announced in a statement emailed to TheNewsZenith on Tuesday.

Dantiye stated that the state Executive Council approved about  N16 billion to the state Ministry of Works and Housing for the construction of Dan Agundi Interchange Underpass and Flyover.

Also, the government earmarked about N14.46 billion for the construction of Tal’udu Interchange Clover Leaf flyover.

“The Council approved an upward review of N3,360,084,380 for the Ministry of Works and Housing to construct a covered sewage conduit/road along Jakara-Kwarin Gogau River.

“Exco also approved N1,579,755,966 for the construction of Kofar Waika – Unguwar Dabai- Yan Kuje Western bypass road in the Gwale Local Government Area.

“Similarly, the Council approved N1,350,460,874 for the ministry to construct the Unguwa Uku ‘Yan Awaki-Limawa junction road in Tarauni Local Government Area.

“The government equally approved N820,262,071 for the completion of Kanye-Kabo-Dugabau road in Kabo Local Government Area,” thatement read in part.

Other funds approved for the ministry include N802,695,617 for the completion and dualisation of Kofar Dawanau-Dandinshe-Kwanar Madugu raod phase ll and N458,443,067 for re-award of contract to reinforce concrete pedestrian bridges at various locations across the state.

A total of N420,000,000 is also earmarked for rehabilitation of metropolitan street lights and traffic lights.

Similarly the Council approved N200,537,271 for the ministry to settle outstanding payment for the rehabilitation of Kwanar Kwankwaso road in Madobi Local Government Area.

And N107,658,975 for renovation works at the reformatory Institute Kiru, at Kiru Local Government Area.

The Ministry of Health also receive attention of the Council with approval and release ofvarious funds for developmental projects.

These includes N53,654,223 for procurement of commodities and drugs for October 2023 to enable the public health facilities to provide free Accident and Emergency, maternal and child care services in the state.

The ministry also received N40,820,564 for drugs and laboratory reagent and consumables supplied to Hasiya Bayero Pediatric Hospital.

The government approved N37,005,000 for the state’s counterpart funding for three-rounds of Diphtheria mass vaccination campaigns in 22 local government area.

The Ministry of Higher Education received N56,763,475 for reconstruction of a burnt theatre at Aminu Kano College of Islamic and legal studies.

“Council considered and approved the second 2023 proposed supplementary budget/amendment to the tune of N24 billion.

“This comprised recurrent expenditure of N4 billion and capital expenditure of N20 billion,” Dantiye stated.

TheNewsZenith reports that this approval brings the revised N2023 budget to N350,389,266,018.12 when the state House of Assembly pass it.
