The landlords of Agric and Owutu in Ikorodu West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) have appealed to the Lagos State Government to obey court processes on their case.
They asked Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to refrain from demolishing their buildings for any purpose, pending determination of case in court.
The landlords seek to enforce their fundamental human rights to acquire and own property anywhere in Nigeria.
This follows the sudden issuance of a seven-day notice, asking them to vacate their lands.
According to their legal counsel, Mr Alexander Ishogba, the landlords sought court intervention as the last hope of common man.
Ishogba said they took the steps after their petitions and protests to governor’s office, lawmakers and chairman of the LCDA, didn’t yield desired result.
Agents of the state government had marked houses at Agric and Owutu for another round of demolition.
This is five years after the government partly demolished the same houses without paying compensation as earlier promised.
They expressed surprise that the Sanwo-Olu administration again wanted to demolish their buildings. This is after they had rebuilt them with bank loans and property developers.

The landlords had begged the government to honour the agreement, which it had with them in 2018.
They suspected some people were using the state government and the road construction project to demolish their houses again.
Ishoga noted that the people are conspiring with the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Ministry of Works and Ministry of Physical Planning to render them homeless.
“My clients are not against the progress and development of Lagos State.
“As a responsible government, it is expected that it pays commensurate compensation and follows due process, legally built properties, whenever it acquires such for public use,” he said.
Also, the spokesperson for landlords, Mr AbdulGaniyy Mustapha, urged the state lawmakers to live up to their promise.
Mustapha said they should ensure that no building is demolished without due diligence and adequate compensation.
The spokesperson said findings revealed that some influential men were being the intended demolition.
