SMDF boss receives 2024 Productivity award

The Executive Secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund (SMDF), Hajiya Fatima Umar Shinkafi, has received the 2024 Productivity and Proficiency Order of Merit Award.

TheNewsZenith reports that the Productivity and Proficiency Projects Nigeria (PPPN), organised the Award in commemoration of World Productivity Day.

The convener and Executive Director of PPPN, Dr Olugbenga Balogun, spoke glowingly on why Shinkafi merited the award during the ceremony recently in Abuja.

Balogun remarked that she had given an impressive account of her stewardship within the prism of the core values of SMDF.

According to him, the core values of the SMDF include innovation, sustainability, social responsibility, inclusivity and collaboration to deliver on the mandate of funds.

TheNewsZenith learnt that PPPN is a consortium of public service values, monitoring and evaluation agencies.

Explaining further on Shinkafi’s performance, PPPN boss noted that the first quarter survey of the Agency revealed that her restructuring and synergy initiative had positioned SMDF for optimal success.

“Emphatically, SMDF has successfully applied the African Finance Corporation deal of about $700 billion aid, to develop mining projects.

“This has helped to mitigate risks that might prevent major finance and investment in the sector,” Balogun said.

Responding, Shinkaif, who is also the CEO of the Presidential Artisanal Gold Mining Development Initiative (PAGMDI), dedicated the recognition to her management team.

She also dedicated the award to Dr Dele Alake, Minister of Mines and Steel Development, whom she described as a Focused Administrator.

According to her, Alake is passionate about the sector and has drawn a strategic roadmap to make it the foremost national revenue earner for the country.
