Train-Bus Crash: Always adhere to railways crossing rules – FRSC

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has advised motorists to always adhere to railway crossing rules when approaching rail lines.

Sector Commander of the FRSC in Lagos State, Babatunde Farinloye, gave this advice when he visited the scene of the crash involving a moving train and the Lagos State staff bus.

The crash occurred at the PWD railway crossing along Agege Motor Road in Ikeja.

The crash involved Lagos State Government Staff Marcopolo bus with registration number 04A 48 LA and a moving train on Thursday along the Agege Motor Road corridor at 7.45 a.m.

Farinloye said the bus was conveying 80 passengers at the time of the crash while four adult occupants were confirmed dead.

According to him, the remaining occupants sustained varying degrees of injuries and are receiving treatment at the LASUTH Ikeja.

Farinloye commiserated with the families of the dead and also wished the injured quick recovery.

He commended all emergency responders for the prompt rescue of the victims

They include FRSC, LASEMA, Nigeria Police and LASTMA.

The Sector Commander promised that FRSC would investigate the crash.

The State Commissioner of Police, CP Idowu Owohunwa, admonished motorists to always give way to trains at railway-level crossings.
