Lagos, May 17, ’25 (TNZ) Dr Ibrahim Abdul, the Rector of Yaba College of Technology, has extended unwavering support to the JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, in the face of the recent uproar over the 2025 UTME glitches.
TheNewsZenith reports that Abdul gave this indication in a statement he issued at the weekend in Lagos.
“As the Rector of Yaba College of Technology and a dedicated advocate for educational excellence in Nigeria, I extend my unwavering support to Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the Registrar, JAMB, in the current challenging period.
This follows the uproar concerning the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
“The recent technical glitches affected approximately 379,997 candidates across 157 centres in Lagos and the South-East states.
“This has, understandably, caused distress among students and stakeholders.
“Prof. Oloyede’s heartfelt apology and assumption of full responsibility demonstrate commendable leadership and integrity.
“His commitment to transparency and prompt corrective measures, including the rescheduling of examinations for affected candidates, underscores his dedication to upholding the credibility of our educational assessments,” TheNewsZenith quotes the Rector as stating.

According to him, the overall performance in the 2025 UTME raised concerns.
“It is imperative to recognise the complexities involved in administering large-scale examinations in a technologically evolving environment.
“This incident catalyses all educational stakeholders to collaborate closely to ensure robust systems that can withstand unforeseen challenges.
Yaba College of Technology remains committed to supporting JAMB’s initiatives and reforms, aimed at enhancing the integrity and efficiency of our examination processes.
“We stand in solidarity with Prof. Oloyede; we are with him in the future he beholds for JAMB.”
The Rector reaffirmed the College’s confidence in the visionary leadership of Prof. Oloyede.
