NAHCO strike: Rep urges dialogue

The House of Representatives Committee on Aviation has called for restraint over the ongoing industrial dispute between the Nigerian Aviation Handling Company (NAHCO) and its workers.

The committee chairman, Mr Nnolim Nnaji, made the call on Monday in Lagos.

Nnaji, advised the management of the company to dialogue with the union leaders.

He said this was necessary to avert further disruption of flight operations across the country.

The lawmaker also appealed to the union to consider the ripple effects of the strike on the sector and passengers, both locally and internationally.
“Downing tools at a time the general election is close by could cause severe consequences to campaigns and movement of sensitive materials by the Independent National Electoral Commission,” he said.

He assured the workers of prompt actions to address their grievances.

NAHCO went on strike over the poor condition of service and failure of the management to address it.
The company handles check-in and ramp services for several international airlines in the country.
