NAN reaffirms commitment to prioritising staff welfare

Lagos, April 3, ’26 (TNZ) The Management of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) has reaffirmed management’s commitment to strengthening cooperation across all departments and prioritising staff welfare.

TheNewsZenith reports that the Managing Editor and Head of Lagos Operations of the Agency, Mrs Ifeyinwa Omowole, made the remarks when the executive of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers’ Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), NAN Chapter, paid her a courtesy visit.

Received the union leaders on Wednesday in Lagos, the former President of the National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), said management “is encouraging continuous dialogue with workers to address emerging issues”.

TheNewsZenith gathered that the visit aims to strengthen the relationship between the union and NAN management. It is also to reaffirm RATTAWU’s support for the Agency’s vision and goals.

Earlier, the RATTAWU Chairman, Comrade Deji Fadipe, congratulated the HLO on her appointment and expressed confidence that she will succeed in the office.

“You have started on a good note already, but there are still numerous challenges that the Lagos office is facing.

“These include, but are not limited to, making the working environment conducive and improving the well-being of staff, which will eventually translate to enhanced productivity,” TheNewsZenith quotes Fadipe as saying.

He called on the management to make adequate resources available for the smooth running of the agency.

The union chairman assured that the union would always support and partner with the management in efforts to better the lot of the members of staff and the agency as a whole.

Fadipe emphasised the importance of sustaining collaboration and mutual understanding between management and workers.

This, according to him, advances the agency’s mandate and enhances staff welfare.

Discussions also centred on the agency’s progress, prevailing challenges, and practical strategies to drive improvement, efficiency, and growth.

Omowole thanked the union leaders for the visit. He noted that such engagements would promote unity and foster a conducive working environment.

The Head of Lagos Operations also shared valuable insights and guidance, which she said would further support collective efforts toward achieving organisational goals.

The visit concluded on a note of renewed commitment by both parties to work together in advancing the Agency’s growth and development. (TNZ)
