Buratai to chair “OurNigeria” Magazine awards

Former Chief of Army Staff, retired Lieut-Gen. Yusuf Buratai is scheduled to direct the affairs of the prestigious “2023 OurNigeria” Magazine award as chairman of the occasion.

TheNewsZenith reports that the Award comes up on Nov. 12 at the Abuja International Conference Centre.

The theme of the Award is: “Providing A Podium for the Unsung Heroes”.

The organiser of the Award, Abdulfattah Abdussalam, said in a statement that the immediate past Nigerian Ambassador to the Benin Republic, Buratai has a collection of over 32 titles across Nigeria.

According to AbdusSalam,  “OurNigeria Magazine” is the foremost Nigerian Nation-Building Magazine.

He said that very important personalities in Nigerian society and the diplomatic community will attend the event.

The organiser will confer most prestigious honours on of the Magazine on eminent Nigerians during the occasion.

AbdusSalam stated the Magazine is conferring awards on organisations and individuals who show uncommon patriotism and dedication to Project Nigeria.

“In addition, the award is to encourage them to do more for the collective interest of the good people of Nigeria.

“The board and Management of OurNigeria Magazine have deemed it fit to chose Buratai to chair the glamorous occasion.

“This is in recognition of his heroism, patriotism, sacrifices, contributions to nation-building and humanitarian pedigrees both in active services and retirement,” the statement read in part.

The choice of Gen. Buratai as the chairman of the occasion, he added, is a manifestation of his various humanitarian services, sterling roles in counter-terrorism and insurgency in the North-east.

He also said that Buratai has made dignified contributions to nation-building, peace, security and infrastructural developmental projects across Nigeria.

According to the statement, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, will be the Special Guest of Honour of the event.

Similarly the Emir of Keffi, Nasarawa State, Alhaji Shehu Yamusa III, is the Royal father of the Day.
