16 prospective Corps members die in road accident

Lagos, Nov. 20, ’25 (TNZ) No fewer than 16 prospective corps members from Ondo State have died in a ghastly road accident, while travelling to Gombe, Gombe State for their two weeks orientation programme.

Only two passengers who survived the accidents are in critical condition.

According to reports, the students were all graduates of Adeyemi Federal University of Education (AFUED) in Ondo State.

Eyewitnesses described the accident as “catastrophic.”

Emergency workers evacuated the bodies and rushed the injured for treatment.

As of now, the NYSC Management has not released an official statement.

Officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps at the scene are investigating the cause of the accident as at press time.

TheNewsZenith reports that the safety of many NYSC members during travel to their orientation camp is now a pressing concern.

This is especially after the tragic accident involving prospective corps members from Adeyemi Federal University of Education in Ondo State.

It was gathered that the NYSC management has extended condolences to the families affected by the recent accident.

The management assured the public that appropriate support will be provided to the victims and their loved ones.

NYSC has also promised to strengthen transport safety regulations and improve road infrastructure to minimize risks. (TNZ)
