Awka, March 6, ’25 (TNZ) The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra says four persons died in an accident along Idemili River by the Second Niger Bridge, on Tuesday, in Onitsha.
TheNewsZenith reports that the FRSC Commander in the state, Mrs Joyce Alexander, confirmed the accident to newsmen, on Thursday, in Awka.
Alexander attributed the crashes to speeding and loss of control, resulting in a head-on collision.
She said the crash involved a brown Mercedes trailer without registration number, a white commercial bus with registration number XED-526-XA and four Bajaj tricycles with no registration numbers.
“According to eyewitnesses, the driver of the brown Mercedes trailer with an unstrapped container was descending a hill at high speed.
“In the process, he lost control and crashed into five other vehicles parked by the roadside.
“Six persons (two male adults and four female adults)lost their lives in the accident.

“Four were confirmed dead and two others were injured.
“FRSC officials arrived at the scene to clear the wreckage and restore traffic flow.
“They took the remains of the dead to two nearby hospitals,” TheNewsZenith quotes the Commander as saying.
While condoling with the families of the dead, Alexander urged road users to adhere to traffic regulations.
This is to prevent accidents and ensure safe travels to their destinations.
She also advised motorists to refrain from speeding and conditions that could compromise their safety on the road. (TNZ)
