The Federal Road Safety Corp’s (FRSC), on Sunday, confirmed eight persons dead in an early hour tanker explosion in Warri, Delta State.
Seven others sustained varying degrees of injuries in accident that occured at the Koko Junction end of the Ologbo Bridge on the Warri-Benin highway.
The Sector Commander of the FRSC in the state, Udeme Eshiet, said the explosion burnt the dead victims beyond recognition.
Eshiet explained that the explosion occurred at about 1.00 a.m.
He added that it destroyed 15 commercial vehicles.
According to him, a tanker carrying petrol, caused deadly accident.
He said policemen and officials of FRSC had cordoned off the scene for rescue operation.
