Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, says the apex bank has waived some of the conditions for accessing the new banknotes by commercial banks.
He announced this at a sensitisation tour on the redesigned naira notes to the Computer Village, Ikeja in Lagos.
Emefiele was represented by the CBN Director of Legal Services Department, Mr Kofo Salam-Alada,
Before now, he said, CBN gives commercial banks slots, but it had bent backwards to accommodate their demands.

Emefiele said the CBN had approached commercial banks to come and pick the new notes after waving all conditions to accessing the redesigned currency.
He said that the apex bank “is monitoring the Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) to know if they are dispensing the new notes”.
The CBN governor warned that the apex bank would penalise any commercial bank that failed to pick the new notes.
He also said any bank that failed to load new notes into their ATMs would attract fines.
