Gov. Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, at the weekend, promised that his government would soon rehabilitate the Ikenne township roads.
Abiodun made the pledge at the closing of the 47th Annual Ikenne Ereke Day Celebration.
TheNewsZenith reports that the theme the Day is: “Divine Year of Accomplishment”.
He said the government would soon award contract for the rehabilitation. The roads, he added, would begin from Aiyepe junction.
”I will soon award the Ikenne township roads contract. The project will start from the Aiyepe junction to Uren River.
”That will complete the stretch of the road coming from Sagamu and it will give this town the beauty it deserves.
”We have completed the Sagamu-Ikenne road. I know some of our brothers and sisters in Ikenne would have wanted us to dualise it.
”As a government, our decisions are driven by data. That road does not enjoy enough traffic to allow us to dualise it.
”So, we looked at the cost benefit and decided that we would complete one side of the road.
”And when the traffic justifies it, we will now complete the other part,” Abiodun said.
The governor also assure that his administration would complete work on a model school in Ikenne, allegedly abandoned by the immediate past administration.

”We will convert the school into a World Class Centre of Excellence.”
He also reiterated the determination of his administration to complete work on the Ogun State Agro Cargo Airport.
”We will soon commission the airport and open for commercial activities.”
He added that a dry port would also berth in the state soonest.
”In our efforts to make our state more accessible to business, we have initiated a multi-modal transport master plan, which included this airport.
In line with the initiative, Abiodun said the government would soon establish the Ogun State Dry Port.
” This is a port without the sea at the Kajola-Papalanto axis.
”It will thereby further facilitate our manufacturers to ship their raw materials from anywhere in the world.
”At the same time the facility afford manufacturers to export their finished goods from Kajola in Ogun to the rest of the world,” he said.
