Bangladesh court bans gender detection of unborn

A High Court Division bench in Bangladesh’s capital, Dhaka, has banned gender detection of the fetus in a mother’s womb.

Also, the High Court bench consisting of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque, on Sunday, ordered diagnostic centres to strictly follow the policy in this regard.

The court issued the rule during the hearing on a writ petition filed by a Supreme Court lawyer.

The lawyer filed the writ in public interest seeking a directive to stop revealing the gender identity of unborn children. (Xinhua)
