The Oyo State Government says it has reabsorbed former occupying traders into the redeveloped Bola Ige International Business Complex, New Gbagi, Ibadan.

TheNewsZenith reports that Mr Adeniyi Adebisi, Commissioner for Trade, Industry, Investment, and Cooperatives, announced the reabsorption in a statement, in Ibadan on Monday.

Adebisi said upon completion of the project, the ministry first allocated stalls to former occupants in the state government’s share of the facility.

He explained that the state government had demonstrated commitment to the welfare of traders by not displacing them during the redevelopment process.

According to him, the ministry enumerated the sitting occupants of the market to accommodate qualified traders.

He said more traders would benefit after the completion of the second phase of the project.

“We had engagements with all stakeholders, including market elders, market executives, zonal leaders and the developers handling the second phase.”

He said that no trader has lodged any complaint about the project or the developer so far.

“This suggests that the majority of traders are satisfied with the government’s initiatives.

“They are eager to take advantage of the redevelopment of the market,” TheNewsZenith quotes the commissioner as saying.

He said the State Government has a proven track record of supporting traders and business owners.

The government, he added, has provided infrastructure, access to finance and training programmes to them to enhance the state economy.

“These efforts have contributed significantly to the growth and development of businesses in the state.”

Adebisi urged those, who are yet to benefit from the government’s initiatives, to come forward and engage with the ministry.
