The Tinubu Stakeholders Forum (TSF) has commended the Federal Government for increasing the corps members’ monthly allowance from N33,000 to N77,000, effective from July.

TheNewszenith reports that TSF gave the commendation in a statement jointly signed by Ahmad Sajoh and  Afolabi Josiah, its Chairman and Secretary, respectively on Sunday.

“President Tinubu’s strategic intervention is aimed at cushioning the effects of the current economic challenges.

“It is also to provide financial relief to Nigerian youths participating in the NYSC scheme,” the group stated.

TSF noted that it wholeheartedly applauds President Bola Tinubu’s administration for increasing corps members’ allowances. It is a forthright thing to do, it added.

“This significant raise comes at a critical time and it is a clear indication of the administration’s commitment to supporting Nigerian youths and mitigating the economic challenges they face.”

TheNewsZenith recalls that NYSC recently announced an increment in a statement by the NYSC’s Acting Director of Information, Caroline Embu.

Embu had quoted an official communication via a letter from the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission.

The letter conveyed the federal government’s approval of the new Corps members’ allowance.

Before this intervention, corps members received N33,000 monthly, based on the previous minimum wage revision in 2019.

The new allowance is a much-needed boost that underscores the government’s dedication to improving the welfare of corps members.

The Forum further acknowledged the efforts of Brigadier-General Yusha’u Ahmed, the Director General of the NYSC for playing a pivotal role in securing the new welfare package for corps members.

“This approval could not have come at a better time. It represents yet another landmark achievement of the Tinubu administration by addressing the financial needs of our youth.

“This also reinforced the government’s promise to improve the living standards of Nigerians across all sectors,” TheNewsZenith quotes the statement.
