Lagos, Feb. 9, ’25 (TNZ) JAMB says it is aware of the concerning trend of nocturnal (nighttime) registration of prospective candidates for the 2025 UTME in some registration centres.

Dr Fabian Benjamin, JAMB’s Public Communication Advisor, announced this in a statement emailed to TheNewsZenith on Saturday.

“While JAMB appreciates the enthusiasm of these centres to accommodate as many candidates as possible, this should never come at the cost of the candidates’ safety and security.

“JAMB provides clarity and issues a stern warning to the identified centres and any others that may consider engaging in similar practices, to immediately cease these activities,” Benjamin stated.

TheNewsZenith reports that the JAMB listed ten such centres, allegedly involved in the nocturnal registration.

The centres are located in Oko and Lafiaji in Kwara; Otukpo, Benue; Elimgbu, Rivers and Gumel in Jigawa.

Others are in Lugbe, FCT; Okuku, Yala in Cross River; Jos, Plateau; Ogoja and Nde, Ikom in Cross River.

“This publication serves as a final warning to these centres, as no further notices will be issued before JAMB takes decisive action to address this issue.

“JAMB will not tolerate any violations of the regulations governing the registration process.

“The board will take appropriate measures against any centre engaged in questionable or exploitative practices during this exercise,” TheNewsZenith quotes JAMB as stating.

He said the Board remained committed to monitoring the registration process to ensure strict adherence to all guidelines.

“This is to safeguard the integrity of the exercise and promote fairness and equity in the registration process.

“JAMB urges centres to prioritise the well-being of our nation’s youth over mere profit margins,” the statement further read. (TNZ)
