Lagos, July 18, ’25 (TNZ) The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has embarked on community-based Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives with the renovation of some schools in Lagos State.

TheNewsZenith reports that the Comptroller-General of Customs (CGC), Bashir Adeniyi, inaugurated some of the projects at the Christ Assembly Nursery and Primary School in Ajeromi-Ifelodun area in Lagos.

Adeniyi explained that the Service’s CRS usually targets life-changing interventions such as education, healthcare, sports, the creative industry and water.

Our correspondent, who witnessed the project inauguration, reports that NSC provided some vital facilities in the renovated schools.

The facilities included 40 classrooms, toilets for teachers and pupils, clinic, food vendor spot, and playing ground for the pupils.

NSC also equipped the beneficiary schools with 10 computer units. Adeniyi promised five additional units for the school library and classrooms, among others.

The CG remarked that the Service would continue striving to improve the lives of the Nigerians as part of its CSR.

He promised to enhance community well-being and foster sustainable development.

These will ultimately make a positive impact on the lives of people in the communities where the schools are located.

“Our CSR 2025 target is to directly reach out to 50,000 students across the country with learning materials.

“We have, so far, donated writing materials to 10,000 children. And, we will still reach out to pupils in other parts of the country.

In his welcome address, the Zonal Coordinator, Zone ‘A’, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs, Charles Orbih, said the projects would leave lasting footprints in the service’s host communities.

Orbih commended Adeniyi for his exemplary leadership, which had consistently offered a modern customs service.

“NSC is excelling, not only in revenue generation, trade facilitation, and border security, but also in touching lives,” TheNewsZenith quotes Orbih as saying.
