Abeokuta, May 2, ’26 (TNZ) The Secretary-General of the Ogun State Muslim Council (OMC), Asiwaju Kamal’deen Akintunde, has commended the Federal Government’s ongoing reforms in Technical and Vocational Education.
TheNewsZenith reports that Akintunde gave this commendation on the sidelines of the 20th Founder’s Day Lecture of Crescent University, on Saturday, in Abeokuta
Speaking with newsmen on the sidelines of the event, OMC Scribe described the reforms as pivotal steps toward 21st-century economy.

He aligned with the Federal Government’s National Education Policy. The policy focuses on curbing the proliferation of universities to raising the quality of the existing ones.
Akintunde, who is also a former National President of NACOMYO, remarked that the strategic focus is on the integration of technology. “This is the right step toward a modern economy,” he said.
“The systematic reduction in the proliferation of universities is a commendable pursuit of quality over quantity.
” it is heartwarming that the government choose, instead to consolidate and strengthen existing ones.
“I urge the Federal Government to ensure these reforms are realistic and impactful at the grassroots.
“Our policies must not just exist in the corridors of power; they must be felt in the lives of the students and the efficiency of the teachers,” TheNewsZenith quotes Akintunde as saying.

He emphasised the need for “Impactful” Implementation of policies, but cautioned that policy formulation is distinct from implementation.
He challenged the government to ensure that the reforms translate into tangible benefits for the common man.

TheNewsZenith reports that the university, on the occasion, honoured Akintunde with the prestigious “2026 Bola Ajibola Community Award”.
The award was in recognition of his lifelong commitment to youth development, the promotion of faith, and interfaith harmony.
Akintunde expressed a profound appreciation to the management of Crescent University for honouring him with the award.
He dedicated the award to the memory of the late founder, Prince Bola Ajibola, SAN and Muslim youth of Nigeria.
The community honoured him, alongside two other distinguished Nigerians. They are retired Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG), Adeleye Oyebade and Aare Kazeem Bakinson.
While Oyebade was recognised for his contributions to security reform and community policing, Bakinson was honoured for his services to societal development and education. (TNZ)
