Accident: NAF deploys fact-finding team to Zamfara

Abuja, Jan. 13, ’25 (TNZ) Authorities of the Nigeria Air Force have deployed a high-level fact-finding team to Zamfara State over alleged civilian casualties during Saturday’s operation in the state.

TheNewsZenith reports that NAF spokesperson, AVM Olusola Akinboyewa, said in a statement on Monday that the Chief of the Air Staff, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, approved the deployment.

AVM Edward Gabkwet, the Director of Coordination and Cooperation in the Civil-Military Relations Branch leads the team.

The team is tasked with conducting a thorough investigation into the incident.

Akinboyewa said the team would engage with state and local government officials and other critical stakeholders.

This is to gather a comprehensive understanding of the events.

“Concerned about the reported incidence of civilian casualties in the recent NAF airstrikes in Zamfara State, the CAS, Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, has dispatched a fact-finding team to Zamfara.

“The team will fully investigate the incident and provide a detailed report for further action.

“It will liaise and interface with State and Local Government officials and all other critical stakeholders, for a holistic assessment of the situation to drive the appropriate response,” TheNewsZenith quotes Akinboyewa as stating.
