Residents of Okpoko in Ogbaru Local Government Area of Anambra have expressed satisfaction with the new hospital constructed by Gov. Chukwuma Soludo.
ThenewsZenith reports that the residents believed the project would provide better and qualitative healthcare services.
They spoke to newsmen during a project inspection tour organised by the Consolidated Transporters in Anambra State, under the umbrella of Solution Marshals at the weekend.
TheNewsZenith reports that the projects visited included internal roads measuring about 12 Kilometres and an ultra-modern general hospital at Okpoko in Ogbaru.
Newsmen also inspected the multi-billion naira flyover at Ekwulobia, Aguata LGA.
A resident, Mrs Ruth Ngene, who had lived in the community for several years, was elated about the health facility.
Ngene said her experience of travelling several kilometres to access healthcare was over.
“This hospital in the Okpoko community is an answered prayer. The hospital helps those who are sick, pregnant women, and children, especially in emergencies.
“We thank Gov. Soludo for taking away our sufferings while trying to access healthcare,” TheNewsZenith quotes her as saying.
Also, Jude Ezenwa, Vice-President-General of Okpoko, said the community had received a new lease of life since Gov. Soludo started the projects.
Ezenwa said the hospital had shortened the distance they travelled to access healthcare.
He added that the internal roads with street lights have turned the place into ‘a new heaven’.

“Okpoko used to be one of the biggest slums in West Africa. But today, Gov. Soludo has transformed it.
“We are promising the Governor that we will own these facilities by maintaining them for the use of our people,” he said.
Mr Daniel Umeh, a resident of the Ekwulobia community was also full of praises for Gov. Soludo’s projects in the area.
“The Ekwulobia Bridge is a strategic project which connects Awka to Imo State through the Uga community.
“It is also an interchange link to Nnewi through Nnobi and also to Isuochi in Abia state through Umunze,” he said.
The Coordinator of Solution Marshals, Mr Osita Obi, spoke to newsmen after the tour.
Obi expressed the group members’ happiness with the transformation of Okpoko from being a slum within the Onitsha metropolis.
“Soludo has fulfilled his promises to the residents of Okpoko and Ekwulobia. He has provided a network of roads, potable water supply and general hospitals.
“The hospitals offer free child and maternal healthcare services.
“These projects are for the good of the people of Anambra State. I urge our people to support the governor for a second term.
“This is in order not to disrupt this lofty development agenda,” TheNewsZenith quotes Obi as saying.
