The All Progressive Congress (APC) has rejected the results of the Local Government Election conducted in all the 20 local government areas of Bauchi state.

TheNewsZenith reports that the State Electoral Commission (BASIEC), on Sunday, announced the results of the elections. The ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) won all 20 Local Government Areas.

Dissatisfied with the outcome, the APC has called for the immediate cancellation of the election. It also called for the resignation of BASIEC Chairman, Alhaji Ahmad Makama.

The opposition party described the election as a “clear broad-daylight robbery of franchise and murder of democracy committed by Bauchi State Electoral body”.

TheNewsZenith recalled that APC had called for a free, fair, and credible poll in line with international best practices at a press conference on Friday.

The party chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Hassan told journalists that APC operated within the confines of the law while participating in the council elections.

“Unfortunately, the conduct of the election turned out to be a political gimmick of the PDP-led administration in Bauchi State.

“What we witnessed on Saturday, Aug. 17 in all the 20 Local Governments was a deceitful drama and mockery of innocent electorates and politicians.

“Irregularities characterised the purported election,” TheNewsZenith quotes Hassan as saying.
