Nigeria army troops have arrested a suspected ammunition courier, Shamsiyya Ahadu, 25 for allegedly supplying arms to terrorists in the North West.
TheNewsZenith reports that Lieut-Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordinating Centre, Operation Fansan Yamma, announced the arrest in a statement on Sunday in Gusau.
Abdullahi narrated how troops of 1 Brigade, Sector 2 Operation Fansan Yamma ”apprehended a 25-year-old ammunition courier, Shamsiyya Ahadu”.
“Troops found her in possession of 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines meant to be delivered to terrorist kingpin Bello Turji’s camp.
“They arrested her on Dec. 28 together with her accomplice.
“Her accomplice is a motorcycle rider, Ahmed Husaini in the Badarawa area of Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
“The arrest followed an intelligence report regarding the movement of the terrorists’ logistics along the road between Kware and Badarawa in the Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

“Responding to the report, troops of Operation Fansan Yamma promptly established a roadblock leading to the apprehension of the suspects.
“Both suspects are currently undergoing investigation by appropriate authorities,” TheNewsZenith quotes the statement as reading in part.
Lieut-Col. Abdullahi said Operation Fansan Yamma remained dedicated to dismantling all terrorist networks.
“It is also ready to prevent illegal arms and ammunition movement within its Theatre of Operation.”
The Army urged the public not to relent in providing credible information on the activities of terrorists and their collaborators.
“Additionally, the Theatre wishes to appreciate the local peoples’ support in the Zone,” the army stated.
