Ibadan, April 13, ’25 (TNZ) The government of Oyo State have advised prospective land owners to conduct due diligence assessments before acquiring landed properties in the state.
TheNewsZenith reports that Gov. Seyi Makinde announced this at the first segment payment of compensation to land owners/claimants affected by the acquisition.
The Executive Assistant to the governor, retired CP Sunday Odukoya, represented Makinde at the event.
The state government is paying compensation on landed property along the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road Project in Ibadan.
According to Odukoya, due diligence would forestall future demolition, forceful acquisition and forfeiture.
“Before development takes place in a particular place, government would have inform the people that a project was coming up. But they will not believe.
“Anybody who wants to buy land, should ensure that they come to either Surveyor-General’s office or Ministry of Lands to check the master’s plan of that particular area.
“This is necessary so that it doesn’t fall into encroachment,” TheNewsZenith quotes Odukoya as stating.
He further said that payment of compensation to the land owners/claimants, was Gov. Makinde’s promise kept.
