The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has detained the suspended National Coordinator of the National Social Investment Programme Agency, Halima Shehu.
EFCC arrested Shehu in connection with the ongoing probe into about N37.2 billion allegedly laundered in the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, under former Minister, Sadiya Umar-Farouk.
The commission’s operatives stormed NSIPA’s office at the Federal Secretariat in Abuja, on Tuesday, at about 9.00 a.m. and drove Shehu to their office.
An impeccable source in the commission, who spoke on anonymity, said that Shehu was indicted in the alleged N37.2 billion fraud.

She was the ministry’s former National Coordinator of the Conditional Cash Transfer Programme.
TheNewsZenith recalls that, on Tuesday, President Bola Tinubu had approved Shehu’s suspension with immediate effect.
Her suspension comes barely three months after the Senate confirms her appointment.
Following her suspension, the Presidency appointed Dr Akindele Egbuwalo, as NC/CEO pending the conclusion of the investigation.
Until this appointment, Egbuwalo served as the Programme Manager for the National N-POWER.
