EKSG’ll contribute to nation’s mining sector development – Alake

From Our Correspondent

Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, says Ekiti State will contribute significantly to the Federal Government’s quest to develop solid minerals into a major revenue earner.

Alake made the remarks when he received Gov. Biodun Oyebanji in his Office, on Monday in Abuja.

In a statement, Segun Tomori, Special Assistant on Media quoted the Minister as saying that Ekiti State is blessed with many natural resources, including solid minerals.

The minister reiterated the commitment of the Federal Government to partnering with states to reform the mining sector.

This is with a view to ensuring maximum benefits for host communities and accruable revenue for the government, Alake added.

The visiting Gov. Oyebanji expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for appointing an illustrious son of Ekiti to head the solid minerals ministry.

He noted that the minister “is the State’s best choice. He has been using his vantage position to advance the cause of Ekiti State”.

Oyebanji emphasised the importance of collaboration between states and the federal government on mining sector reforms.

“The other reason why I came is to discuss how Ekiti can key into the vision of Alake through a strong partnership on mineral development.

“It is in the interest of states to collaborate because it is a win-win situation.

“Any state that wants to develop its domain, must key into the mining sector. I see a lot of opportunities in the sub-nationals,” the governor said.
