Ibadan, Jan. 26, ’25 (TNZ) Dr Bosun Tijani, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, has assured that the Federal Government was committed to digital transformation for youth empowerment.
TheNewsZenith reports that Tijani gave the assurance in a keynote address he delivered at the Robotics and Artificial Intelligence Nigeria (RAIN) Summit, at the weekend in Ibadan, Oyo State.
The theme of the summit is “The Rain of Transformation Is Upon Us: CEOs Arise”.
Tijani remarked that because of the foreseeing future, the government would do things that are not just popular but also set Nigeria on the path of prosperity.
“The future we see as a country will not be possible if we outsource the work to government only.
“There is no nation that can develop without investing in the foundation of technology. This is because technology is responsible for development.
“Investment in the telecommunications sector in Nigeria is the highest on the continent,” TheNewsZenith quotes the minister as saying.
He noted that while the government is doing that, there is a need for talented and creative minds to translate this into economic opportunities.

Also speaking, Gov. Seyi Makinde of Oyo state, said on his administration’s ongoing efforts at boosting digital literacy.
Represented by his Special Assistant on ICT, Mr Bayo Akande, the governor added that the government is also equipping young people with essential skills for the evolving job market.
Dr Olusola Ayoola, the convener of the summit, called on the Federal Government to introduce robotics education to universities.
“The Nigerian government needs to allow Robotics in universities,” Ayoola said.
He said the summit is showcasing the capacity of Nigerian youths so that universities will not complain that there are no technical people to handle robotics.
“There should be a policy shift, rather than having mere academic lecturers for robotics. We must engage technical lecturers to handle this,” he added.
Awards were given to the Minister of Communications and other outstanding experts. (TNZ)
