Kano State Government has approved the release of N2,665,646,756.44 for the execution of various developmental projects in the state.
TheNewsZenith reports that the Commissioner of Information and Internal Affairs, Baba Halilu Dantiye announced the approval while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the 17th Kano State Executive Council in Kano.
Dantiye said the council approved N502 million for the supply of 10 water pumps for the Tamburawa and Chalawa water works.
“The Council also approved N268.16 million for the renovation and conversion of part of Kano State Library into an office complex for the Ministry of Transport and Offices of Special Advisers to the state governor.
About N164.95 million was approved for the relocation, re-instalment and upgrading of the Golden Jubilee Monument at Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso bridge along Emir’s Palace Road.
“The Council approved the establishment of Computer-Based-Test (CBT) and Information and Communication Technology (ICT) at the cost of N309,784,126.72.
“Council approved the provision of intervention for washout menace at an existing 3-cell 900mm diameter ring culvert along Gwarzo-Shanono road amounting to N77,540,743.19.

“The council also approved more than N43.38 million for latrine filling of a two-kilometre road from Riga-Karkari in the Gwarzo local government area,” TheNewsZenith quotes Dantiye as saying.
According to him, the council approved about N30,58 million for the revalidation and approval of outstanding payment in respect of the construction of the female hostel/external works and landscaping at Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil.
He said the Council approved over N275.99 million for the expansion of the scope of work at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH) bridge through the Naibawa-Yar-Akwa junction.
The government also approved about N251,78 million for the expansion of the Zaria Road flyover to Kwanar Dawaki.
Also, the council approved the expansion of Hadejia Road/ Ahmadu Bello way roundabout through the Eastern bypass roundabout to Tokarawa for over N286.47 million.
TheNewsZenith reports that the Water Resources and Engineering Construction Agency (WRECA) also benefited from the Council’s approval for the procurement of five dump trucks, amounting to N455 million.
