Lagdo Dam: LASG prepares for flooding – LASEMA

By Our Correspondent

Lagos State Government is fully prepared for anticipated flooding that may arise from the opening of the Lagdo dam on the Benue River in Cameroon.

Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, gave the assurance in a statement, on Monday, in Lagos.

“In a paradigm shift from mere response to efficient disaster management and prevention, Lagos State has carried out holistic measures.

“These holistic measures include sensitisation and advocacy in flood-prone areas and empowerment of local emergency management committees.

“This also includes strengthening of the early warning systems and clearing of drainage and gutters at the state and local government area levels.
