Gov. Seyi Makinde, on Monday in Ibadan, inaugurated a 12-man governing board for the Western Nigeria Security Network, codenamed “Amotekun”, operating in Oyo State.
The governor restated his administration’s commitment towards ensuring that the state is secure and habitable for all and sundry.
He pledged to continually support the corps with logistics, health insurance, training to strengthen their synergy with other security agencies.
Makinde added that his government would provide all that Amotekun needed to enhance its operations in nipping criminal activities in the bud across the state.

“I also urge the newly-trained members to fully utilise what they have learnt,” Makinde said.
He urged the corps to maintain a smoother relationship with conventional security agencies, such as Police and NSCDC.
The board chairman, retired AIG, Sikiru Akande, assured that Amotekun Corps would continue to provide adequate security in the state.
The Special Adviser to Governor on Security, retired CP Fatai Owoseni and retired CP Sunday Odukoya, are statutory board members.
